Can people see who views their TikTok stories?

Short answer: yes. When you watch someone’s TikTok story while logged in, your account is added to the list of viewers the creator can open on that story. Here is what is and isn’t visible, and what your options are if you’d rather not show up.

What creators can see on their stories

For each story, the creator sees how many people watched it and which accounts they were. If you’re logged in and watch the story in the TikTok app or on tiktok.com, your username is on that list for as long as the story is live — 24 hours.

Profile views are a separate feature

TikTok also has a profile view history. It’s optional: it only works when turned on, and you only appear in someone’s profile views if you have the feature turned on too. It covers visits from roughly the last 30 days. Watching a story and visiting a profile are counted separately.

How to watch a story without appearing in the viewer list

The viewer list is built from logged-in TikTok accounts. A story viewer that loads the story without a TikTok login — like our TikTok Story Viewer — doesn’t attach any account to the view, so there’s no username to add to the list.

• It only works for public accounts. Stories from private accounts aren’t available.
• Stories disappear after 24 hours; after that they can’t be viewed anywhere.
• You can also look up the profile itself with the Anonymous TikTok Viewer.

Use it respectfully

Viewing anonymously is useful for privacy — checking an account before you follow it, or watching without affecting someone’s stats. It is not a way around a block. If someone has blocked you or made their account private, respect that decision.
